FMA Heritage provides a wealth of past experience in forested environments applicable to the traditional territory of the Cold Lake First Nations. This experience includes not only archaeological site materials but also extensive archival and literature research into aboriginal lifestyles, subsistence and exploitive patterns, and fur trade history.
The company’s approach to historical resource management is based on the non-renewable nature of these resources and conservation strategies. Critical to their approach is familiarity with, and understanding of, historical resource values as the guiding principle in site evaluation and mitigation requirements.

C.E. Jones and Associates is an environmental consulting company specializing in environmental reclamation assessments and rehabilitation of industrial disturbances. Founded in 1986, the company has provided integrated environmental services to clients in the mining, forest and transportation industries and to government agencies. Acquired by Jacques Whitford Stantec AXYS Limited in 2006, C.E. Jones is an innovative consulting firm on the leading edge of reclamation research.
Cold Lake First Nations
Cold Lake First Nations’ response to the oil and gas industry’s request to increase First Nations participation in their projects resulted in the partnership with Nu Nennè-Stantec Inc. and was intended to increase local capacity in the area of environmental and traditional knowledge assessments.
The members of Cold Lake First Nations are committed to the preservation and protection of their traditional lands. The goal of the Cold Lake First Nations is to leave a legacy of an environmentally sound and sustainable natural environment for future generations, in keeping with their treaty rights. Cold Lake First Nations’ relationship with the land is sacred, and includes the water, the air, the wildlife and all of the resources. As the stewards of nature, it is Cold Lake First Nations’ responsibility to promote conscientious and respectful use of the environment.
Cold Lake First Nations facilitates sustainable operations for industry through their working partnership with Nu Nennè-Stantec Inc. and their involvement and input relative to proposed developments on their traditional lands.
