Environmental Science Scholarship Program

This scholarship was created by Nu Nennè-Stantec Inc. to support and encourage students from the Cold Lake First Nations Community to pursue post-secondary studies in the field of environmental sciences.

Environmental studies may include:

Ecological sciences (air, biology, botany, climatology, geology, hydrogeology, hydrology, oceanography, soil sciences, zoology)
Heritage resources (archeology, paleontology)
Land use and resource planning
Geographic information systems and computer modeling

Award Value

The scholarship has a maximum value of $1,000 per student per year. If a particular year is not awarded, due to a lack of candidates, that amount ($1,000) will be transferred into the Cold Lake First Nations post-secondary Trust Fund. Surplus funds from this account can be used to support additional scholarships if there are years where more that one (1) participant may meet the eligibility requirements.

Eligibility Criteria

Applicants must:

be a registered member of the Cold Lake First Nations Band
be enrolled full-time in a post-secondary environmental science program

Application Procedures

Apply by May 1st for post-secondary studies starting in September or
Apply by December 1st for post-secondary studies starting in January.

The award is issued after the post-secondary institution confirms full-time enrolment of student, usually in November for students who applied by May 1st, and in late March for students who applied by December 1st.

There is no time limit to apply for the scholarship, please apply when you intend to pursue post-secondary studies.
